English – we have been guided reading everyday in small groups. describing feelings, hopes and emotions and role playing being interviewed.
Well it has been a fantastic week in class and we have certainly been very busy! Here are just a few of the things we have been upto…
English Firstly during circle time, we got to share who we are as individuals, taking turns to tell all about what makes us who we are. We have linked our learning to the emotional charachters from the film Inside Out, which will include ‘All about me’. We have shared our emotions by role playing with expressive walks around the classroom where we use our bodies and facial expressions to react to each charachters personalities eg Joy, Disgust, Anger, Fear and Sadness.
Maths The class have been investigating different measuring techniques, looking at how we measure accurately and trying alternative resources and tools to help us. We had lots of fun.
ICT We have been using Purple Mash to code programmes at all levels. We logged onto Year 2’s blogging and posted comments, every child succeeded!
PE & Dance In our PE lesson we have been assessing the childrens abilities ready to set targets for the year. During dance the children worked in groups and in pairs to share their emotional and technical movements.
Cinema The whole school had an amazing oppurtunity to see the film Inside Out at Lings Forum on Wednesday. What a fantastic emotional movie. We were all ‘blown away’ by it, if you get the chance, please go and see it, it will really make you think in a different way!!! This will be linked to our whole school termly learning.
Creativity Free Doodle Time on a large piece of paper, children were able to share doodles, which they absolutely loved and we enjoyed watching them as teachers, as they shared ideas of what to draw, offered postitive comments and criticism and had discussions about their family, it was so sweet. They also added to their sketch pads pattern pictures.
ART The children made clay pots using their fine motor skills and then made patterns along the outside with a range of tools. we have just started to paint them and then they will be displayed for you to look at outisde in the circus role play area. Keep an eye open for them, they are superb!
Circus Theme Outside Year 2 we have set up a circus theme for the children, which consists of a tunnel full of multi sensory items inside, lights, bubble wrap popping floor! wind chimes, pillows and many more exciting things for them to engage with. There is a giant TV which the children can role play inside using the dressing up costumes and props. As you can see they have already started. We look forward to developing this area further with the childrens help.
We cant wait for next week – bring it on!
